Blackmagic Design Jumps the Gun on NAB and Unveils a Range of New Products

Blackmagic Design broke with tradition and didn’t wait for The NAB Show (National Association of Broadcasters), coming up in April 2023. They just launched a range of exciting new products that further advance the way that filmmakers and content creators approach their work. From new cameras to software updates, Blackmagic Design’s latest offerings are designed to provide unparalleled performance and versatility, giving creators the tools, they need to bring their creative vision to life.

ATEM Microphone Converter (CDN$ 569.00), a new audio analog to digital converter that lets customers add additional microphones to ATEM switcher models such as the new ATEM Television Studio HD8. Featuring a MADI connection, it means customers don’t have to configure any complex settings because the connection is a simple BNC cable. The design features amazing quality with an extremely low noise floor of -129dBV, a dynamic range of 131 dB(A), low distortion of 0.002%, and uniform tolerances across all channels. The design also features an HDMI monitoring output with scrolling waveform displays.

Now it’s easy to expand the MADI input on ATEM switchers so customers can add multiple microphones or external audio mixers. The ATEM Microphone Converter simply plugs into the ATEM Television Studio MADI port, so there’s no complex setup required, and additional units can even be daisy chained for more sources. Each converter has 4 analog inputs that are mic/line selectable and have 48V phantom power. The design features amazing audio quality with an extremely low noise floor, a wide dynamic range, and very low distortion. The design even uses 8 separate ADCs on each separate input that work together to extend the dynamic range. There is also an HDMI monitoring output with scrolling audio waveforms.

Blackmagic Studio Camera 6K Pro (CDN$ 3595.00), is a new more powerful studio camera model that features an EF lens mount, a larger 6K sensor for improved colorimetry and fine detail handling, ND filters, and built-in live streaming via Ethernet or mobile data. Blackmagic Studio Camera 6K Pro shares the same compact all-in-one design of the studio camera family with a lightweight carbon fiber reinforced polycarbonate body, a large integrated 7″ HDR viewfinder, and powerful broadcast connections.

Blackmagic Studio Cameras have the same features as large studio cameras, miniaturized into a single compact and portable design. Plus, with digital film camera dynamic range and color science, the cameras can handle extremely difficult lighting conditions while producing cinematic-looking images. The sensor features an ISO of up to 25,600 so customers can create amazing images even in dimly lit venues. Advanced features include talkback, tally, camera control, built-in color corrector, Blackmagic RAW recording to USB disks, live streaming, and more. Plus, the new Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 and 6K Pro models add built-in live streaming via Ethernet or mobile data so customers can place cameras remotely, almost anywhere in the world.

The new ATEM Television Studio HD8 (from CDN$ 4315.00) is a new family of all-in-one live production switchers that combine broadcast features with extreme portability. These new switchers feature broadcast-grade control panels with advanced features such as streaming and recording. There is also an ISO model that can record all video inputs and can connect to up to 8 remote cameras. These new switchers also support live streaming, talkback, and optional internal storage.

The new ATEM Television Studio HD is a professional live production switcher built into a broadcast control panel so it can be used for high-end work while being extremely portable. This means customers can use it in small venues that don’t have access to equipment racks or broadcast vans. Customers get a powerful switcher with 8 standards converted SDI inputs, 2 aux outputs, 4 chroma keyers, 2 downstream keyers, SuperSource, 2 media players, and lots of transitions. Plus it includes a whole television studio of features such as hardware streaming, recording, audio mixer, talkback, Multiview, and optional internal cloud storage.
